A devastating fuel tanker explosion has claimed at least 48 lives in Niger state, Nigeria, after a tanker collided with a lorry carrying passengers and cattle.
The explosion occurred at 00:30 local time and engulfed both vehicles in flames, with several others also impacted.
Emergency response teams are recovering bodies, and a mass burial is underway for the victims.
Governor Umaru Bago expressed his condolences to the victims’ families.
