Patna: After traveling across more than 20 countries and studying innovative community-led initiatives around the world, Bihar-based social entrepreneur Prashant Kumar returned home with a mission to create meaningful change through sustainability and climate action.
Inspired by the resilience of communities he encountered during his travels, Kumar founded the Centre of Resilience, an organization focused on transforming waste into public art, generating livelihoods, and promoting environmental awareness. The initiative works with local communities to create sculptures and installations from discarded materials while also providing skill-development opportunities.
Among the organization’s most notable achievements is the creation of India’s first climate-resilient floating house on the Ganga, designed to address challenges posed by flooding and climate change in vulnerable regions.

Through a combination of innovation, environmental sustainability, and community engagement, Prashant Kumar and his team are demonstrating how local solutions can address global challenges. His work has emerged as a unique example of how ideas gathered from across the world can be adapted to create impact at home in Bihar.
Today, the Centre of Resilience continues to work on projects that combine climate resilience, circular economy practices, and social development, helping communities build a more sustainable future.
