Ukraine Hits Russian Oil and Gas Facilities with Missiles and Drones

Kyiv | Prime Headlines:
Ukraine on Thursday launched long-range strikes on several Russian oil and gas facilities, using British-made Storm Shadow missiles along with domestically produced attack drones, according to Ukrainian military and security officials.

The attacks reportedly targeted key energy infrastructure inside Russia, marking another escalation in Ukraine’s campaign to disrupt Moscow’s fuel supply and logistics that support the war effort.

Ukrainian officials said the strikes were carefully planned and aimed at reducing Russia’s ability to sustain military operations, especially as energy exports remain a major source of revenue for the Kremlin. Details on the exact locations and extent of damage were not immediately disclosed.

Russia has not yet issued an official response to the claims.

Why It Matters

Energy infrastructure has become a critical battleground in the war. By hitting oil and gas facilities, Ukraine is seeking to apply economic and strategic pressure on Russia, while signaling its growing ability to conduct deep strikes beyond the front lines.

The use of Storm Shadow missiles also highlights continued Western military support for Ukraine, even as the conflict drags on with no immediate signs of a ceasefire.

The war between Ukraine and Russia, now in its third year, continues to intensify, with both sides expanding attacks on infrastructure far from the battlefield.
