UN Peacekeepers Accuse Israel of Building Border Walls Inside Lebanon

Beirut, 15 November, 2025 | Prime Headlines:
The United Nations peacekeeping force in Lebanon, UNIFIL, has accused the Israeli military of building concrete T-walls inside Lebanese territory, crossing the UN-demarcated Blue Line near the village of Yaroun.

According to UNIFIL’s report, the barriers extend into Lebanon by more than 4,000 square meters, blocking local movement and access to farmland. Peacekeepers say this is a clear violation of UN Security Resolution 1701, which ended the 2006 Israel–Hezbollah war and strictly prohibits changes along the border.

UNIFIL says it is coordinating with the Lebanese Armed Forces to resolve the issue and has formally asked Israel to pull back the structures.

Israel Denies Crossing the Border

Israel rejected the accusation, saying all barriers are on its side of the Blue Line.
It claims the walls are part of a defensive upgrade plan approved in 2022 to strengthen security along the border.

Israeli officials insist there has been no breach of Lebanese land, blaming possible “mapping misunderstandings.”

Tensions Rising Again

This dispute comes almost one year after the fragile Israel–Hezbollah ceasefire, with both sides frequently accusing each other of violating the truce.

Defense analysts warn that even small disagreements over the Blue Line can quickly escalate into wider tensions, especially with both sides on high alert since the Gaza conflict.

UNIFIL has urged restraint and stressed that respecting the Blue Line is essential to maintaining peace.

So far, neither Israel nor Lebanon has announced what their next move will be.
