Raped. Harassed. Silenced. A Doctor’s Death Exposes Rot in the System

Phaltan, Maharashtra | October 25: A 26-year-old woman doctor working at the Phaltan Government Hospital was found dead under mysterious circumstances, sparking national outrage and demands for justice.
A suicide note, written on her palm, revealed a horrifying truth — “I was raped four times by PSI Gopal Badane.” The accused police sub-inspector is currently absconding.
According to police sources, the young doctor had also named a software engineer, Prashant Bankar, the son of her landlord, accusing him of mental harassment. He was arrested earlier today.
The victim’s note reportedly also mentioned senior police officers, an unnamed MP, and his aides, alleging that she was repeatedly pressured to manipulate post-mortem reports and issue false medical certificates to protect the accused.
Her death has shocked the medical community and ignited protests by women’s rights groups demanding accountability from the police department and state authorities.
Family members say she was a dedicated and hardworking doctor who faced constant intimidation for refusing to compromise her integrity.
As outrage grows, the Maharashtra government has promised a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the case. Activists have called for swift action against those involved, stressing that “justice delayed would be justice denied.”
