Patna Metro Blue Line Inaugurated Today by CM Nitish Kumar

Patna, October 6: A historic moment for Bihar’s capital—Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated the Patna Metro today, marking the beginning of a new era in the city’s public transport system.

The long-awaited project, aimed at reducing traffic congestion and improving urban mobility, has taken more than a decade to come to life.

Project Timeline:

2011: Patna Metro project approved by the state government.

2013: Detailed Project Report (DPR) prepared.

2014: Union Government gave its approval.

2020: Construction officially began.

2025: Phase 1 becomes operational — covering 3 stations over a 3 km stretch.


With the launch of Phase 1, Patna joins the list of Indian cities with modern metro connectivity. The metro will provide a cleaner, faster, and more reliable travel option for residents, boosting both the city’s infrastructure and economy.

Further expansion is planned in the coming years to cover more routes and stations, connecting key areas across Patna.
