Bondi Beach Attack Suspects Visited ISIS-Linked Area in Philippines Before Incident

Sydney, December 2025 | Prime Headlines:
Australian investigators have revealed that Bondi Beach attack suspects Sajid Akram (50) and his son Naveed Akram (24) traveled to the Philippines just weeks before the deadly incident.
Intelligence sources say the pair spent nearly a month in a region known for links to ISIS-affiliated networks, an area that has been flagged since 2019 as a training and influence hub for extremist groups. The two reportedly traveled alone, raising concerns about possible overseas radicalization.
Officials confirmed that Naveed Akram had been on ASIO’s radar since 2019, though he was not considered an immediate threat at the time.
Authorities are now investigating whether the suspects were influenced or trained during their time abroad before returning to Australia. The Bondi Beach attack is being described as one of the country’s deadliest terror incidents in recent years, with investigations continuing in coordination with international partners.
